How an Injection Molding Project Moves From RFQ to Delivery

Every stage should answer a different question. The customer supplies requirements and approvals; Startup Molding supplies manufacturing review, defined outputs, and evidence for the next decision.

Approval gates protect both teams

An approval gate records the revision, assumptions, evidence, and person authorized to proceed. It prevents a fast-moving project from treating an unanswered question as permission.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who approves DFM and mold design decisions?

The customer should nominate a technical approver. Startup Molding documents the manufacturing recommendation; the customer approves product requirements and agreed tradeoffs.

What happens when the design changes after tooling starts?

The change is reviewed for tool, schedule, sample, inspection, and commercial impact before implementation. The revised file and approval become part of the project record.

When is a tool released for production?

After the agreed sample, dimensional, functional, cosmetic, and documentation requirements are accepted in writing.
